This year, the jury included the filmmaker Fatih Akin, who was also a close friend of Karl Baumgartner, in addition to the founders Martina Baumgartner (for the Baumgartner mily), Reinhard Brundig (for Pandora Film) and Petra Mller (for Film- und Medienstiftung NRW).
Yesterday Omar El Zohairy recieved the Award from guest jurymember Fatih Akin during the NRW Berlinale press lunch hosted by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

The new epic film documentary by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud (WINGED MIGRATION) will have its cinema start on 10 March 2016 in Germany. Well known actor Sebastian Koch recorded the narration in German language especially for the release.
The French-German co-production filmed more than 70 animal species, gather up to 700 technicians and turned nearly two years in 75 different locations.
After traveling the globe on the wings with migratory birds and surfed in all company oceans whales and manta rays, Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud return for this sequel on more miliar land. They take us on a wonderful journey through time to rediscover these European territories we share with wild animals since the last ice age.

SKY by Fabienne Berthaud will receive its world premiere in Platform, the Toronto International Film Festivals new juried programme Platform, with 12 films in competition.
An international jury assembled of acclaimed filmmakers Claire Denis, Jia Zhang-ke, and Agnieszka Holland will award the Toronto Platform Prize. The TIFF announces in its 40
year the new programme as for: the next generation of masters whose personal vision will captivate audiences, industry members and media from around the world.
Diane Kruger plays the lead role alongside Norman Reedus, Lena Dunham, Gilles Lellouche and Qorianka Kilcher. SKY is a co-production of Le Bureau Films (France) with Pandora Film Produktion. In Germany the project is supported by Film-und Medienstiftung NRW. Alamode will release the film in German cinemas, with international sales being handled by The Bureau Sales.
Screening dates and tickets: director Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov has died today in Berlin. He was only 49 years old.
In 1991 Pandora Film producer Karl Baumi Baumgartner and Bakthiar meet at Mannheim-Heidelberg Festival during the premiere of his first film BRATAN. This leads Baumi to support his next film KOSH BA KOSH, which won the Silver Lion for Best Director at Venice Film Festival 1993.
Then LUNA PAPA, Bakhtiar Khudojnazarovs first international co-production produced by Karl Baumgartner and with Chulpan Khamatova and German acting star Moritz Bleibtreu in the leading roles followed. The film shooting in Tajikistan took more than five years in but was successfully finished against all odds. The film premiere in Venice Competition in 1999 was succeed by many international festival participations e.g. Toronto, Tokyo, Sundance and winning prizes including the Best director award in Tokyo, Russias national Nika Awards. LUNA PAPA was also the first official Oscar entry of Tajikistan.
This collaboration made Bakthiar Khudoinazarovs name known within the international arthouse community and was then continued with the development of the projects SHIK (The Suit) in 2003 and Bakthiars last feature film WAITING FOR THE SEA(also known as Living Fish) premiered in 2012.
The world cinema lost an important voice today.
As a tribute to Baumis work, and in order to support his vision of free, independent script development of outstanding, international, cinematic stories, Martina and Sandra Baumgartner, his co-founded Pandora Film and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW establish the Baumi Script Development Award, which includes a prize money of 20,000 Euros.
The guidelines and application deadlines for the first Baumi Script Development Award will be announced in July, 2015. The first treatment will be awarded during the 2016 Berlinale.

December 2014 is the cinema release date in Germany for Bent Hamers new movie 1001 GRAMS (1001 GRAMM), a humanistic tragic-comedy and one of the most moving portrayals of female solitude in films. The Norwegian Oscar Entry already travelled to festivals world wide, such as in competition in Toronto, Tokyo, London, Rio, Chicago, Palm Springs etc. and opened as German Festival Premiere the Nordische Filmtage in Lbeck, where the film won the Interfilm Award.

Hamers new feature 1001 GRAMS enters the race for the Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Feature. This is Bent Hamers third submission for the Oscars after KITCHEN STORIES (2003) and OHORTEN (2007).
